But they are not to be confused with these:
They were not created by aliens, but rather by engineers and planners. There is no need to fear them ...
Traffic circles, also known as 'roundabouts', are circular intersections that don't have stop signs or signals and traffic flows around them in a COUNTER-CLOCKWISE direction. They allow traffic to keep flowing, rather then stopping at an intersection - Personally, I think they're great!
According to this site:

So now that you know how to properly use one, take a deep breath and go for it! Please do not:
~Come to a complete stop before entering the circle. This is especially moronic when there is no traffic in the circle!
~Cut people off. It's simple, if they're already in the circle they have the right of way!
~Forget to signal. We are not mind readers people. Signal to leave the circle.
Seriously, it's not rocket science! If you're still unsure there is a great graphic demonstration at the link provided above on how to use a roundabout if you're walking, driving or biking. And if you've watched that and you're STILL clueless? Cut up your driver's license and get a bus pass. Frankly, I don't want to share the road with you!
